The Army Cadets Force breeds confidence. We encourage you to develop your one-on-one interpersonal skills by putting you through a structured, demanding and rewarding programme.
The role of the Army Cadet Force (ACF) is to inspire young people to achieve success with a spirit of service to the Queen, country and their local community, and to develop the qualities of good citizenship, responsibility and leadership
But while you’re off enjoying yourself, you’re also absorbing, constantly soaking up essential experience of leadership and teamwork, Problem solving, Communications, Decision-making, Assertiveness. Resilience & Goal setting.
Today there are more then 45,000 cadets spread across the country. Of that 40,000 about 10,000 are girls. As well as having 45,000 cadets there are also 7,000 adult instructors all CRB cleared and trained by the British Army.
As part of their training cadets take part in many activities including Fieldcraft, Skill at Arms, Map and Compass, First Aid, Drill, Adventure Training, Sports, Survival Skills and Shooting but most of all we want you to have fun and meet new friends. While in the ACF you will meet loads of friends who will be your friends for life.
Every cadet will pass up the star levels as they persue their ACF career. You will start off as a recruit and wear a hat until you have worked towards your basic star when you will be presented with your beret. Once you have got that you can move up the levels. The levels are basic star, 1 star, 2 star, 3 star, 4 star and Master Cadet. You can also go up in ranks from cadet to Lance Corporal to Corporal and to Sergeant etc.
Although the ACF isn't part of the regular army we do were their uniform which will be given to you. You will be expected to look after your uniform and turn up to parade nights with it looking smart. All you will need is a pair of boots as they are not given to you.
We also take part in the Duke of Edniburgh Award which is a national recognition of achievment. You can do Bronze, Silver and Gold within cadets. Take a look at our DofE page to see how the cadets enjoyed their expeditions.
Every cadet has the chance to gain a B-Tec qualification in public services and an additional B-Tec in music. (if the cadet joins the company's Corps of Drums)
